Information We Collect

The app may collect information that you voluntarily provide while using its features. This information is used solely to enable core app functionality and improve your in-app experience.

How Information Is Used

All information collected is used only within the app and only for its intended purpose, such as:

• Providing app features and functionality
• Saving user progress or preferences
• Syncing data across devices (if applicable)

Location Data

Users are not required to enable location services to use the app.

If opted in, location data is only collected at the moment of capture.

What it's used for:

• Location data is used by our third-party image identification service to enhance the identification model performance. Many spiders look nearly identical so providing a location improves the likelihood of a correct identification. Users can disable location permissions for the app and still participate but the identification model performance may suffer.
• Location data allows users to see the precise locations of their captures in the "Discovery Map". Only the user themselves can see the precise locations of their captures.
• If opted in, location data allows users to see the approximate location of other users captures of the same species in the "Bestiary" maps. On this public view, the map pins are shifted away from the actual capture location by at least 1 km and then randomized, ensuring the actual capture location is never visible, even after randomization. Furthermore, the pins on the 'Bestiary' maps cannot be tied to individual profiles. Users can choose to opt out of having their pins visible in these views entirely by switching to 'Hidden' in 'Profile Management' screen.

Identity

• Email addresses are never visible to other users, only your chosen Display Name, which can be anything you choose and changed at any time.

No Selling or Sharing of Data

We do not:

• Sell user data
• Rent user data
• Trade user data
• Distribute user data to third parties
• Use user data for advertising or marketing purposes

User information is never used outside of the app.

Third Parties

The app does not share personal data with third parties, except where required to operate essential app services (such as cloud storage or platform-provided services). These services are used strictly to support app functionality and do not have permission to use your data for their own purposes.

Data Security

Reasonable measures are taken to protect user information and prevent unauthorized access.

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be reflected within the app or on the app's listing page.
